Setting up the MHD Universal WiFi Adapter takes just a few steps:
- Plug the MHD adapter into your vehicle’s OBD2 port and switch the ignition on. The engine does not need to be running.
- Open the WiFi settings on your phone or tablet and connect to the network created by the adapter.
- Open the app you want to use and make sure it can communicate with the vehicle.
- If you are using MHD Flasher, sign in to your MHD account to access licence-dependent flashing and tuning functions.
The network name can also indicate which communication mode is being used. Depending on the vehicle and application, the MHD Universal Adapter supports ENET, CAN or K-Line communication, eliminating the need for a separate MHD ENET adapter or K+DCAN interface.
Why an MHD ENET Adapter Matters for F- and G-Series BMWs

Upgradable Firmware

Troubleshooting an MHD OBD
Connection
No MHD WiFi network appears
Switch the ignition off and back on, then unplug and reconnect the MHD OBD adapter. Make sure the adapter is fully seated in the OBD2 port and receiving power.
The phone connects to WiFi, but the app cannot communicate with the vehicle
Check that the correct adapter or connection method is selected in the app. Temporarily disabling mobile data may also help if your phone attempts to route traffic through its cellular connection instead of maintaining the local WiFi connection to the adapter.
Flashing stops or fails
Check the battery voltage first. ECU flashing requires a stable power supply, so MHD recommends using a suitable battery charger during the process. Also make sure you are running the latest version of the MHD app and the current adapter firmware.
xHP does not communicate correctly with a G-Series BMW or Toyota Supra
Do not assume that CAN mode indicates a problem. CAN communication is required for xHP flashing on compatible G-Series BMW and Toyota Supra ZF 8HP transmissions. Check your vehicle’s compatibility and the connection requirements of the app before troubleshooting the adapter itself.
