A proper FBO (Full Bolt On, roughly translated as "fully equipped") setup always includes, alongside a flow optimized downpipe, sturdy charge piping, and the right tune, a larger intercooler as well.
The high-performance intercooler features the following core dimensions (520x215x145, stepped, 13,840 cm³ / OEM 510x130x110mm, 7,293 cm³), giving it 68% more frontal surface area and 90% more charge air volume than the original intercooler.
The Competition high-performance core is a premium-quality tube and fin core with internal turbulators. Despite its size, the intercooler's total weight is only 8.6 kg.
The intercooler's end tanks are made of cast aluminum and were optimized using CFD flow analysis. The EVO 2 intercooler kit was developed specifically to meet the demanding requirements of the BMW M135i and M235i.
Overall, this intercooler produces far less backpressure than the stock intercooler. All Wagner intercoolers also feature an anti-corrosion coating with heat conductive properties, ensuring long-lasting, optimal cooling along with a clear power increase.

A complete, ready-to-install kit, simply swap it in for the stock intercooler, plug and play. The original charge air hoses can still be used.
Our Recommendation
Wagner's Competition series uses high-quality tube and fin cores designed to enable fast heat exchange. This means the cooler drops back down in temperature very quickly once it's heated up. At the same time, though, a tube and fin core also heats up quickly, which means on high boost setups, the ignition reduction threshold set by the tune gets reached fairly fast.
A tube and fin core (Competition) is always noticeably lighter than a bar and plate core (Performance).
Major advantages of Wagner intercoolers are their absolutely excellent build quality and their plug-and-play installation and fitment.
We recommend the Evo 2 series for Stage 1 or mild Stage 2 power upgrades. For any build that isn't too concerned about weight, we generally recommend bar and plate cores (i.e. the Performance series). For applications where fast cooling matters most and the car spends long stretches near the upper temperature limit (for example, track use), a tube and fin core (i.e. the Competition series) can be the better choice.
