A proper FBO (Full Bolt On, roughly translated as "fully equipped") setup always includes, alongside a flow optimized downpipe, sturdy charge piping, and the right tune, a larger intercooler as well.
The EVO 1 intercooler features the following core dimensions: 520x210x130mm (stepped), with a volume of 11,750 cm³, giving it 85% more frontal surface area and 60% more charge air volume than the original intercooler.
The Performance high-performance core is a premium-quality bar and plate core with very good cooling characteristics.
The intercooler weighs 9.0 kg. Its end tanks are made of cast aluminum and were optimized using CFD flow analysis.
The EVO 1 intercooler kit is well-suited for the early power stages of the BMW 35i engines. This intercooler produces less backpressure than the stock intercooler. All Wagner intercoolers also feature an anti-corrosion coating with heat-conductive properties.
This ensures long-lasting, optimal cooling along with a clear power increase. Tested and pressure stable up to 6 bar. All our products undergo continuous quality monitoring.
A complete, ready-to-install kit, simply swap it in for the stock intercooler, plug and play. The original charge air hoses can still be used.
Our Recommendation
Wagner's Performance series uses high-quality bar and plate cores with a high core density that respond quite slowly to temperature changes. This means the cooler cools back down fairly slowly once it's heated up. At the same time, it also means it takes longer for the cooler to heat up to the point where the tune's ignition map starts cutting power.
Major advantages of Wagner intercoolers are their absolutely excellent build quality and plug-and-play fitment.
We recommend the Evo 1 series for Stage 1 power upgrades or stock power levels, for vehicles that need to remain completely stock-looking (no trimming of the plastic required).
